Rest and warmth
Keep your child warm but ensure that the room is well
ventilated. At bedtime for older children, try adding another pillow to
keep their head
raised
as this will help keep the nasal passage clearer.
Vitamins
A diet containing fresh fruit and vegetables can help boost energy
levels and is a source of vitamins, such as vitamin C, which are
important in maintaining a healthy immune system.
Decongestants
A blocked nose can affect a child’s ability to sleep, particularly
younger children who are unable to blow their own noses. It can
also make it more difficult for babies to breast or bottle feed.
Decongestants, such as Snufflebabe Vapour Rub can help gently clear
a blocked nose, allowing your child to breathe more easily and so
aid a restful sleep.
Coughs
A cold is often accompanied by a cough, ranging from the dry,
tickly sort through to chesty coughs. These require specific treatments,
so talk to
your pharmacist about which is most suitable for your child’s symptoms.
