What are the bites like?

Blood is sucked from beneath the skin and this is not normally painful. It is the chemicals in the saliva, which can cause the skin to swell, often forming a lump around the bite. The lump may also feel warm due to the reaction of the body’s immune system.
They are red and itchy . Scratching will cause swelling which can last several days.
